This full-time, 9-month, 3-year renewable faculty role focuses on elementary education and educational foundations within the School of Education. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching an average of 24 credits on the picturesque Winona, MN campus. We are looking for a scholar-practitioner who can effectively collaborate within the department and engage with the broader University and local community. Candidates with a background in teacher preparation and/or professional development, particularly in elementary education within Catholic school environments, are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:
Faculty members are expected to maintain an active scholarly agenda and demonstrate ongoing intellectual growth and significant accomplishments in their respective fields. All faculty contribute to the University’s Lasallian Catholic mission, aligning with strategic priorities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and interdisciplinary programming. Faculty members also engage in various service activities, including academic advising, outreach to students and the community, and participation in departmental and university-wide committees.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master’s degree in education or a closely related field with a focus on elementary education, reading foundations, or curriculum and instruction. A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education is preferred. Candidates should have certification or demonstrable experience in structured literacy, the science of reading, and evidence-based reading instruction methodologies (such as LETRS, 95% Group, Orton-Gillingham, IMSE, IMSLEC, or similar). A strong commitment to student-centered teaching and research, alongside a robust background in evidence-based instructional methods, is essential. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach, advise, and mentor students in diverse educational and cultural contexts, preparing them to make learning relevant and connected to significant societal issues. Experience in Catholic educational settings is highly desirable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field
  • Experience in preparing multiple subject teachers
  • Experience in program development and accreditation
  • At least three years of college teaching experience
  • At least three years as an elementary education teacher of record
  • Familiarity with Minnesota Standards of Effective Practice for Teacher Education Programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D./Ed.D. in Education (ABD candidates will be considered)
  • Experience in teaching within Catholic schools or Catholic education
  • A record of interdisciplinary and innovative research and scholarly contributions
