Position Overview
This role involves performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures to generate three-dimensional images of tissues, organs, and other body structures that assist radiologists in identifying abnormalities, making diagnoses, and treating patients.
Detailed Job ResponsibilitiesEssential Qualifications
Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Licensure/Certification:
- Certification in Basic or Advanced Life Support is mandatory.
- One of the following certifications is required:
- Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); or
- Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Capability to lift and/or assist patients in collaboration with others to fulfill job responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts MRI procedures on patients: Prepares patients for MRI examinations, clarifies the procedure, administers contrast when necessary, positions patients appropriately for the MRI scanner, selects suitable imaging techniques, and ensures the technical quality of the scans.
- Records and monitors patient information.
- Performs quality assurance checks on MRI equipment and matrix cameras. May assist with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other accreditations.
- Identifies and reports any incidents, complaints, or equipment malfunctions to department management.
- Responds to emergency calls within the department.
- Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards while managing budgetary constraints, including time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
- Encourages personal professional growth and development by fulfilling requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based objectives that contribute to the organization's success; serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates a commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Exemplifies Memorial Hermann's service standards by delivering safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
