The Yard Rigging Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the crane operator by facilitating the movement of various materials, including panels and equipment, essential for the daily operations of the production process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively signal the crane operator during the lifting and positioning of panels.
- Utilize rigging equipment for the safe transportation, storage, and dispatch of precast panels.
- Manage the hooking and unhooking of lifting cables, ring clutches, and spreader bars.
- Maintain constant communication with the crane operator via two-way radio, especially in areas with limited visibility.
- Organize dunnage for the proper storage of panels in racks or trailers for distribution.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and possess strong communication skills.
- Maintain a high level of awareness regarding surroundings at all times.
- Willingness to engage in continuous standing and walking across a large worksite.
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety protocols consistently.
- Capability to climb ladders, man-lifts, and scaffolding, and work at heights.
- Flexibility to undertake additional duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
In this role, the employee will frequently stand, twist, and walk. The ability to operate various hand tools and controls, reach with hands and arms, and balance on elevated surfaces is essential. The position may require stooping, kneeling, squatting, crouching, or crawling. The work environment is typically loud, and the employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position involves consistent medium to heavy physical labor.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed work boots, hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection must be worn at all times.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions including sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, and dust.
