Job Summary:

The Cafeteria Assistant will provide support to the Food Service team in maintaining a clean and safe environment for students and staff. This role involves cleaning, product stocking, and meal service, as well as assisting with various tasks throughout the workday as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Clean and maintain a sanitary kitchen and dining room using proper cleaning procedures and equipment.
  • Assist with meal service, including cleaning, product stocking, and meal preparation tasks.
  • Communicate problems, concerns, or service issues to the Cafeteria Manager.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities and in-services.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work as a team member and interact professionally with students and staff.
  • Must be driven in customer service and food quality.
  • Ability to multitask in a limited time period.
  • Able to understand serving requirements for Federal Meal Programs and operate a Point of Sale System.
  • Ability to understand rules, regulations, and policies and apply them to work tasks.
  • Must be available 5 days a week while school is in session.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30-40 lbs. to next room, repeatedly.
  • May be exposed to loud noise, strong chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Working Conditions:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • May be required to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy objects.
