Key Responsibilities- Design and Develop Music Curricula: Create innovative and engaging music curricula for Duolingo courses, taking into account the needs and abilities of learners at different levels.
- Compose and Arrange Music Content: Identify, compose, and arrange level-appropriate songs for learners, and provide musical direction to other content creators.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with team members across different roles to improve the Duolingo music in-app learning experience.
- Analyze Learner Data: Help interpret qualitative and quantitative data on how learners interact with the course, and leverage data insights for course improvements.
- Develop Efficient Processes: Assist in developing and implementing efficient processes for scaling the creation of app-based educational content.
- Recruit and Supervise Freelance Content Creators: If needed, help recruit, train, and supervise freelance course content creators.
- Music Education Expertise: A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching and designing music-related content and curricula, with deep pedagogical content knowledge in music.
- Piano Proficiency: Proficiency in playing piano and experience teaching piano.
- Composition and Audio Production Skills: Skilled at composing and arranging songs for beginning and intermediate piano learners, with proficiency in audio engineering tools.
- Creativity and Communication Skills: Excellent intuitions about how to build content that learners across a diverse set of backgrounds will find engaging and motivating, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Operational Focus: Organized and efficient, with a focus on continuously improving workflow and processes.
- MA in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Ability to work full-time from or relocate to New York, NY
