We are collaborating with a prominent architectural and engineering design firm to identify a qualified Professional Land Surveyor. Below is the detailed job description for your consideration.
Essential Qualifications for the Professional Land Surveyor:
#1. Possession of a valid PLS License is mandatory.
#2. Proficient in conducting field measurements for boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys.
#3. Capability to establish control points, boundary markers, and other survey monuments under the supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS).
#4. A maximum of three job changes in the past decade.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead survey teams and execute field measurements for boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys with minimal supervision.
- Operate and adjust surveying instruments, including GNSS systems, total stations, automatic levels, and electronic data collectors.
- Maintain comprehensive written records of field activities.
- Create field sketches to document site and boundary information.
- Perform calculations to convert surface or assumed coordinates to NAD'83 coordinates.
- Capture photographs of relevant site details.
- Locate boundary markers and survey monuments, including original patent corners and section corners.
- Establish control points and boundary markers under RPLS oversight.
- Interpret plats, maps, drawings, and legal descriptions for boundary re-location and site calibration.
- Conduct topographic surveys to identify the locations of natural features and man-made structures.
- Prepare grid layouts for contour mapping of existing surfaces.
- Manage computer databases for data storage, inquiries, and report generation.
- Analyze field data to assess the adequacy of collected information.
- Ensure maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles.
- Participate in safety meetings and training as required.
- Supervise and direct the work of junior surveying team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in surveying or a related field, complemented by relevant surveying experience.
- PLS/RPLS certification is required.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, and outdoor weather conditions may occur.
- Willingness to travel to various work sites as necessary.
Additional Requirements:
- This position may be in-office or hybrid.
- No sponsorships or visa holders are permitted. Corp-to-Corp arrangements are not accepted.
