Position Summary

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) brings extensive systems engineering expertise to various governmental and private entities, universities, and organizations involved in advanced space technology applications. Our work includes systems architecture development, system analysis, optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris management, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, and economic market analysis, leveraging a wide range of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse portfolio of national challenges.

Work Environment

This position requires full on-site engagement.

Key Responsibilities

The Systems Performance, Estimation, and Algorithms Department (SPEAD) is responsible for algorithm development, evaluation, modeling, simulation, and analysis for national security space clients, focusing on Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) sensors, missile warning and tracking, threat assessments, space domain awareness, and space security. The successful candidate will lead projects in threat characterization and radar modeling and simulation.

  • Co-lead studies to analyze and project threat systems using validated intelligence and engineering methodologies, while mentoring junior staff.
  • Oversee the technical advancement of the Advanced Sensor Performance Evaluation & Concept Toolkit (ASPECT) and related radar modeling initiatives.
  • Facilitate the application of Aerospace tools and frameworks with government clients, translating customer challenges into actionable tasks.
  • Enhance SPEAD's expertise in modern algorithm design techniques and innovative problem-solving methods.

Qualifications

For Project Leader Role:

  • Master's degree in engineering, science, or a relevant technical field from an accredited institution.
  • 8 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience in systems engineering analysis of radar and space surveillance systems.
  • Involvement in the development of computational tools and simulations for interdisciplinary support teams.
  • Strong background in statistics, estimation, controls, signal processing, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as FORTRAN, C++, Matlab, Python, Java, or C.
  • Ability to think broadly and quickly assimilate diverse capabilities and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and effectively with high-level personnel.
  • Current and active TS/SCI security clearance required.

For Senior Project Leader Role:

  • 12 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be advantageous to possess:

  • Ph.D. in engineering, science, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Academic experience in systems engineering and simulation/modeling.
  • Experience with radar design trade studies and technology integration.
  • Leadership in system architecture or enterprise-level algorithm assessments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Engineering and Technology Group's (ETG) capabilities.
