About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Staff Engineer - Spacecraft System Safety to join our team at Terran Orbital. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and reliability of our spacecraft systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough safety analyses of spacecraft systems to identify potential hazards and risks.
  • Develop and implement safety mitigation strategies to eliminate or reduce risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety considerations are integrated into all aspects of spacecraft design, development, and testing.
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis to identify and address potential safety issues.
  • Develop and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, procedures, and reports.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Requirements
  • BS degree in engineering or applied sciences.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience, preferably in aerospace.
  • Spacecraft system safety analysis experience.
  • Experience leading FMEA and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering, physical sciences, or business administration.
  • Degree or professional certification in safety engineering or systems engineering.
  • Software safety analysis experience.
  • Spacecraft propulsion system assembly, testing, and fueling experience.
