Job Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department at the assigned Tyson Distribution Center and Outside Cold Storages (OCS). The role involves developing and maintaining food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) programs supporting Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls (HARPC), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The position requires collaboration with Distribution and Corporate on Continuous Improvement projects, managing blast freezing efficiency projects, and interacting with regulatory officials, customers, and team members for product showings, plant tours, audits, and visits to other storage facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain food safety and GMP programs supporting HACCP, HARPC, FSMA, and required regulatory and customer audits.
  • Provide traceability support to plant and Corporate FSQA Customer Representatives, Distribution, OCS, and Sales.
  • Mastery of Enterprise Information Management (EIM), SAP, and warehouse inventory systems to provide support and training to plant FSQA.
  • Support and advise on Hold Release inventories at DCs and OCS.
  • Perform product evaluations on various Poultry and Prepared Foods items.
  • Assist production plants with FSQA Internal Audits and Cross Functional Audits.
  • Assist Sales with the disposition and distribution of second products, donations, and destruction of product.
  • Collaborate with Distribution and Corporate on Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Manage blast freezing efficiency projects.
  • Interact with regulatory officials, customers, and team members for product showings, plant tours, audits, and visits to other storage facilities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to food safety, animal science, natural science, or a technical field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory production and manufacturing concepts.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills capable of generating customer letters and spreadsheets.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Supervisory: This position has no direct reports but works closely with Distribution management, plant and Corporate FSQA, Sales, and regulatory officials.
  • Availability: Must be available 24/7 with access to systems from home and/or able to travel to work location after hours for emergencies.
  • Travel: 8-10+ trips per year.
