POSITION SUMMARY
The Geospatial Technician role is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals eager to learn and engage in various geospatial production processes. Responsibilities include the ingestion, processing, quality control, and reporting of imagery and GNSS/IMU data collected from nadir and oblique imaging sensors. The technician will also prepare, edit, and interpret orthophoto images derived from aerial imagery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Under close supervision, prepare orthophoto images utilizing aerial photographs, survey data, and compilation data while archiving digital information.
- Conduct manual quality control edits on LiDAR data.
- Create, maintain, and update databases using GIS software.
- Collect hydro feature breaklines, run hydro models, and produce printed maps.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating GIS equipment, software, and related products.
- Compile geographic information from satellite images, geographical surveys, and aerial photographs.
- Research and verify geographic data for accuracy.
- Input new data into the GIS database.
- Utilize advanced computer software to draw maps.
- Ensure maps are accurately annotated and compiled with the correct information.
- Compile reports utilizing all available GIS and GPS data sources.
- Maintain the GIS database and troubleshoot any data-related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- A high school diploma is required. A Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or relevant certification in a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience or current enrollment in relevant college-level coursework.
EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES
Familiarity with lidar, ortho imagery, and GIS software tools is preferred. Skills in Photoshop are a plus.
This position offers a competitive hourly pay range.
