Estimating Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator / Senior Estimating Manager to lead our estimating team in delivering accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage the estimating team to ensure timely, accurate, and thorough development of cost estimates for both small and large-scale construction projects.
- Collaboration with Project Teams: Work closely with estimators and project management teams to develop sections of schematic, design development, and construction documents.
- Initial Project Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure all required documentation is present, identifying risks and opportunities for each project.
- Develop Full-Scope Estimates: Create comprehensive cost estimates, including detailed crew and production costs, unit costs, and materials.
- Bid Management: Organize and lead the bid team, providing guidance on means and methods, scheduling, and overall bid strategy.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Relations: Solicit and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing when necessary, ensuring the most competitive and accurate bids are included in estimates.
- Technical Proposal Development: Participate in technical proposals for Alternative Delivery projects, ensuring project requirements and bid strategies are met.
- Site Visits and Meetings: Attend pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews to gain a full understanding of project scopes and requirements.
- Cost Monitoring and Takeoff Planning: Gather and monitor actual costs versus estimated costs, maintaining a comprehensive project cost history while accurately assessing takeoff workloads.
- Subcontractor Management: Manage and maintain the subcontractor database, ensuring subcontractors meet prequalification standards.
- Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to support company values and exceed client expectations.
- Estimator Development: Mentor and train new estimators, ensuring they develop the skills needed to contribute to the team's success.
- Proven Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, and/or operations for commercial construction projects.
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and Bid2Win. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and develop detailed cost estimates.
- Public Works Knowledge: Strong understanding of public works construction practices and regulations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong listening abilities and a focus on customer service.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to analyze and manage complex data and information.
- Driver's License: Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Multi-tasking Ability: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: A collaborative and flexible mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
