Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Outdoor Education Instructor to join our team at YMCA Camp MacLean in Burlington, WI. As an Outdoor Education Instructor, you will be responsible for facilitating program areas and teaching outdoor education classes to school groups, girl/boy scouts, church groups, and other customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Facilitation: Develop and deliver engaging outdoor education classes to diverse groups, including school groups, girl/boy scouts, and church groups.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with the program team to design and implement new outdoor education programs and activities.
  • Training and Certification: Participate in training and certification programs to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas such as first aid/CPR, risk management, customer service, and child abuse prevention.
  • Marketing and Outreach: Assist in marketing and outreach efforts to promote the outdoor education program and attract new customers.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Work closely with other departments at camp, including kitchen, maintenance, and resident, to ensure a positive and safe experience for all participants.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A degree in education, environmental science, or a related field, and prior experience working with children and youth.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and leadership skills, ability to work with diverse groups, and a passion for outdoor education and youth development.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform moderate physical activity and adapt to changing work conditions.
  • Availability: Must be able to commit to one season and work 40+ hours per week, including nights and weekends.

  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs.
  • Report any suspicious behavior or violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
