GENERAL SUMMARY

The Radiologic Imaging Technician is responsible for operating imaging machinery and conducting diagnostic x-ray examinations on patients as required, providing essential diagnostic information to radiologists and/or physicians. This role includes assisting in the preparation of examination rooms as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES

  • Key duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with physicians on patient medical concerns to establish appropriate protocols and procedures.
  • Executing Radiologic Imaging and procedures, ensuring optimal image quality for physician assessment in accordance with established policies.
  • Collecting and documenting patient identification, medical history, and test results.
  • Continuously monitoring patient conditions and responding to any changes in status as necessary.
  • Providing medical assistance as required, including administering oxygen, taking vital signs, and delivering emergency care.
  • Upholding patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Documenting radiation exposure duration, conducting weekly equipment tests, and inspecting protective x-ray aprons for integrity.
  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment, reporting any issues as they arise.
  • Delivering high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.
  • Safely and properly operating imaging and ancillary equipment.
  • Implementing correct radiation protection measures, shielding, and exposure factors for each patient.
  • Positioning patients accurately to obtain necessary radiographs.
  • Completing examinations efficiently while evaluating each film for technical quality.
  • Aiming to minimize retakes and conserve supplies.
  • Ensuring that the physician on duty reviews x-ray reports sent for over-reads to a radiologist during each shift.
  • Maintaining organized filing of all x-rays, discs, and related documentation.
  • Patient care responsibilities may encompass triage/check-in assessments, CLIA waived point of care testing, phlebotomy, wound care, splint application, and other treatments as directed by the provider.
  • Maintaining comprehensive clinical documentation, including quality control and compliance logs as required by company policies and regulatory agencies.
  • Accurately and efficiently documenting all clinical patient care data.
  • Utilizing all company resources, including equipment and supplies, in a prudent and efficient manner.
  • Participating in departmental quality improvement initiatives, educational programs, and meetings while demonstrating and maintaining clinical competency in patient care services according to company guidelines.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
  • Licensure and certification as mandated by state regulations.
  • Valid ARRT Certification in Radiography.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of routine to complex Radiologic procedures and protocols.
  • Understanding of healthcare systems operations, including EMR.
  • Familiarity with database management.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare coding systems, and clinic operations.
  • Awareness of governmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, and digital archiving.
  • Skill in operating Radiologic and ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Capability to provide accurate and concise documentation.
  • Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to assist patients in transferring from stretchers or wheelchairs, especially in emergencies.
  • Providing compassionate care to patients and their families.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make informed decisions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate Degree in Radiography.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience as a Radiologic Technologist is strongly preferred; new graduates will be considered.
