Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the overall commercial status of a project, ensuring accurate and timely cost reporting at a project and portfolio level.
  • Provide regular updates to the client on overall cost position, risk, and cash flow variances.
  • Own and manage the change process, negotiating change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with numerous parties, including the general contractor, owner's representatives, and external stakeholders.
  • Manage forensic reviews of cost and valuations on high-value, time-critical projects.
  • Extract data from complex spreadsheets, transforming it to fit operational needs.
  • Participate in post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Manage cost impact and contingency management, as well as commitment tracking logs.
  • Prepare funding data presentations and coordinate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.
  • Develop strong leadership skills and mentor other team members.
Pre-Contract
  • Provide commercial input to design optioneering and value engineering exercises.
  • Review contractor and subcontractor pricing, leading negotiations on behalf of the client to drive fair contract prices.
Post-Contract
  • Manage overall commercial and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure accurate cash flow reporting and effective post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Implement commercial processes and procedures agreed between Turner & Townsend and clients.
  • Manage cost auditing and valuation work, ensuring a robust process for cost validation.
  • Produce monthly cost and project status reports for presentation to the client.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts in a timely manner, providing maximum value to the client.
  • Aid in the compilation of as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
  • Work with stakeholders to follow correct project close-out procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a construction cost management role within the construction industry.
  • College and/or post-graduate degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a field related to construction.
  • RICS accredited or working towards is valuable, but not required.
  • Hybrid In-Office and Onsite working is required.
  • Experience of leading cost and commercial management teams on medium or large-sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry legal and technical matters, such as different procurement routes and contract types.
