The Business Analyst acts as a crucial link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that project objectives are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with business stakeholders to elicit requirements and critically assess what will contribute to project success; articulate user stories that clearly convey business needs to software development teams.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings, provide updates on project status, assist in developing testing scenarios, and validate outcomes.
  • Create deliverables such as process diagrams, wireframes, mockups, and functional prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts and detailed interaction workflows.
  • Prepare and present findings to clients.
  • Serve as an advocate for business interests to IT and vice versa.
  • Develop expertise in various software packages and custom business solutions.
  • Analyze information to identify patterns and areas for improvement.
  • Support business applications and troubleshoot application-related issues.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role or a related IT position.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, statistics, computer science, mathematics, information management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Self-motivated and independent with a curious mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, capable of working autonomously or collaboratively with both business and technical teams.
  • Proficient in defining and documenting business and functional requirements within agile development frameworks.
  • Experience in writing clear acceptance criteria for APIs.
  • Familiarity with EDI file formats and proprietary data exchange standards.
  • Participation in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, grooming, reviews, demos, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of product, software, and testing lifecycles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, database design, and data management principles.
  • Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write investigative queries and understand joins.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working on a business team interfacing with IT.
  • 3+ years of experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Ability to become a Subject Matter Expert in various healthcare, insurance, pension, and payroll technology systems.
  • Experience with diverse project types, including off-the-shelf solutions, new developments, and enhancement projects.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps.
  • General knowledge of databases, applications, system interfaces, and operating systems.
  • Experience in generating reports for business users, particularly using SSRS or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of SDLC, Agile, and/or Waterfall methodologies.
