Job Title: Electrical Supervisor

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to join our team at the City of Bradenton. As an Electrical Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing second-level administration and management to our Electricians, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct, monitor, and perform duties and responsibilities of subordinate staff.
  • Manage and maintain supplies and resources.
  • Train and instruct Electricians in methods and procedures and ensure adherence to City and Department policies.
  • Act as Interim Superintendent in Superintendent's absence and relay information from upper management to Electricians.
  • Coordinate with administrative staff to create Work Orders based on requests from the general public and City staff.
  • Ensure safety of subordinates, work crews, and the surrounding public.
  • Authority to make simple customer service decisions outside of normal or standard guidelines and negotiate with moderately dissatisfied/irate/difficult customers.
  • Coordinate multiple field crew operations on multiple jobs.
  • Interpret general work instructions into specific work assignments and review the work of subordinates to ensure quality and completeness.
  • Approve equipment and material purchase orders and perform equipment inventory.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations, approve timesheets, vacation, and sick leave, and recommend disciplinary actions and other employee activity.
  • Make hiring and discipline recommendations to the Superintendent.
  • Discuss personnel issues with employees, answer grievance issues within mandated time frames, and notify the Superintendent of operation and personnel issues.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience in public works or utilities or equivalent experience.
  • Good driving record and valid Florida driver's license.
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Class B CDL prior to appointment to position.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily performed outside in varying and extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Exposed to excessively loud noises from construction equipment and occasional exposure to live electricity (up to 480 volts).
  • Physical effort is required to perform heavy manual labor in confined and cramped spaces and uncomfortable conditions.
  • Must be able to work alone, if necessary.
  • Frequently work at heights up to 35-feet and below ground.
  • Subject to twenty-four (24) hour call back for emergency conditions.

Salary: $20.48-$30.72
