Job Summary

The Senior Data Engineer will play a pivotal role on the Enterprise Data Services team, responsible for transforming data from disparate systems to provide actionable insights and analytics for business stakeholders.

Leveraging cloud-based infrastructure, you will implement technology solutions that are scalable, resilient, and efficient. Collaboration with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, DBAs, cross-functional teams, and business leaders is essential.

Your work will involve architecting, designing, implementing, and operating data engineering solutions using Agile methodology to empower users in making informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and implement data engineering solutions that support business analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and design data solutions accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Provide technical counsel to fellow Data Engineers and mentor junior team members through code reviews.
  • Identify necessary business rules for data extraction and address functional or technical risks related to data sources.
  • Continuously improve the quality, efficiency, and scalability of data pipelines.
  • Write test cases to ensure high data quality and confidence in reporting.
  • Utilize tools like Teradata Utilities (BTEQ, FastLoad, MultiLoad, TPT) for data management and processing.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and automate deployment using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least 7 years of post-degree professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the airline industry.
  • Minimum of 4 years of development experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines.
  • 3+ years of experience with database technologies and data development (e.g., Python, PL/SQL).
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and managing relational databases.
  • Proven experience in database performance tuning, data security, and governance.
  • Ability to serve as a liaison with business users and understand their data challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vantage Master 2.0 certifications or Vantage Data Science Master certifications.
  • Experience in mentoring junior team members and recommending adherence to best practices.
  • Familiarity with best practices for data ingestion and design.
  • Knowledge of query optimization techniques, indexing, and workload management in Teradata.
Proficiency with core AWS services:
  • EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation.
