Sentara Healthcare is seeking a Lead Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our dedicated team in Transfusion Services. This full-time position involves working night shifts, contributing to the vital operations of our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Lead Medical Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting laboratory tests and interpreting results based on scientific principles and methodologies.
- Providing recommendations for additional testing as necessary.
- Overseeing daily technical operations, including staff training and education.
- Implementing new instrumentation and ensuring readiness for accreditation.
- Collaborating with management to develop project plans and timelines.
- Supervising and assessing the competency of laboratory personnel and students in a 24/7 environment.
- Ensuring accurate ordering and submission of proficiency surveys.
- Collecting performance improvement data, analyzing results, and documenting progress.
- Maintaining up-to-date policies and procedures within the department.
- Demonstrating fiscal responsibility in all operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
- Certification from ASCP or AMT
- Experience in Transfusion Services
- Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience
