Position Summary:
In this role, you will operate under general oversight, executing a range of supportive tasks associated with the packaging, inventory management, documentation, and distribution of pharmaceuticals and related materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compounds intravenous (IV) chemotherapy solutions utilizing proper aseptic methods under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.
- Receives and organizes incoming stock, confirming quantities against delivery documents, and notifying supervisors of inventory requirements, shortages, and expiration dates.
- Distributes medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients, nursing units, and clinic areas as necessary, adhering to safe handling protocols.
- Supports pharmacy personnel in upholding appropriate storage and security measures for medications.
- Assists internal clients by responding to basic inquiries, locating products, or directing them to the pharmacist for detailed medication information.
- Completes medication usage documentation for nurse station crash carts, emergency response kits, and automated medication dispensing systems.
- Coordinates with the supervising pharmacist to address restocking needs, expired medications, and any discrepancies.
- Performs additional tasks as required.
A high school diploma or GED is mandatory.
Experience Required:
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is essential.
Licenses and Certifications:
Certification as a CPhT, Certified Pharmacy Technician is necessary. IV Certification is preferred.

Benefits Overview
UT Health San Antonio provides a comprehensive benefits package for its workforce. Employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week with an appointment lasting at least 4.5 months are eligible for benefits.
Medical Coverage - UT SELECT Medical insurance is provided at no cost to employees, managed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Family members can be added to the plan through payroll deductions. Dental Insurance - Employees and their families can choose from three dental insurance plans through Delta Dental Insurance Company, including two PPOs and one dental HMO plan. Both PPO options allow employees to select any licensed dentist.
Vision Benefits - Comprehensive Vision Care benefits are provided by Superior Vision Services, offering two plan options with either standard or enhanced vision coverage.
Life Insurance - Employees receive $40,000 in group term life insurance and $40,000 in basic accidental death and dismemberment insurance at no cost, with options to purchase additional coverage for themselves and their dependents at group rates.
Retirement Plans - Employees can participate in either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan with matching contributions from UT Health. ORP is available for eligible faculty and staff. Additional voluntary retirement programs are also offered for pre- or post-tax investments with a selection of five quality retirement plan providers.
Leave Benefits - A generous leave policy provides various paid leave options:
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, granted at the beginning of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in the first year based on the hire date.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued monthly, available for use after one day of Paid Time Off is taken for illness or injury.
- Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) for caring for a spouse, child, or parent after six months of continuous employment.
- Holidays: 12 designated paid holidays each year plus three floating holidays that can be utilized at any time during the fiscal year.
