Position Overview

JMT is seeking a Construction Facilities Manager to lead the management of a significant wastewater pump station and pipeline utilities project. This role involves overseeing both new construction and the renovation of existing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, building occupants, architects, engineers, and contractors.
  • Manage the project timeline from initiation through to completion.
  • Conduct job-site meetings to ensure project alignment.
  • Engage in client presentations to communicate project progress.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff assigned to the project.
  • Coordinate with all technical resources within the project team.
  • Prepare extra work order requests and proposals for open-end contracts.
  • Review contractor work to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Approve contractor monthly requisitions and invoices.
  • Manage change orders efficiently and maintain cost control.
  • Provide regular updates on project status and address any issues that arise.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills for effective management and mentoring of field staff.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors to adhere to project schedules.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and possession of a 10HR OSHA Safety card.
  • Collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn in a team setting.
  • Capability to evaluate contractor-provided construction schedules, including logic and sequencing.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of ten years in construction management roles, including positions such as Construction Manager or Owner's Representative.
  • Experience with water and wastewater facilities, including pumps and related systems.
  • Knowledge of general building construction and experience working with municipalities on project budgets and costs.
  • Proficiency in using construction management software for tracking progress and documentation.
  • Experience with cost estimating software for developing independent cost estimates.
  • Ability to review engineering designs and contractor submissions for constructability and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
  • Professional certifications such as EIT, PE, CCM, or PMP.
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training.
  • Experience coordinating with transportation departments.

Work Environment

This position requires work in both office and field environments, with fieldwork comprising a significant portion of the role. The role may involve physical activities such as climbing and standing at construction sites, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs may be necessary. Travel may be required.
