Job Summary

This is a senior-level position that requires a high degree of technical expertise in mainframe operating systems and software. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting z/OS and third-party software, as well as providing technical guidance and support to developers and other team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and support z/OS and third-party software, including installation, implementation, and maintenance of zSeries hardware, IBM operating system software, and program products.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to developers and other team members, including training and education on system software and program products.
  • Develop and implement plans and procedures for installation, testing, and implementation of system software and program products.
  • Prepare change notification and documentation for system software, and provide education for end users of system software.
  • Coordinate efforts with other personnel, including vendors and support personnel, to ensure the highest quality and most effective level of service is provided to end users.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide hardware and software problem determination and resolution.
  • Ensure the safety and integrity of valid system data, and maintain backup and recovery procedures necessary to provide system, program, and data integrity.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of MVS systems programming experience in a multi-system environment.
  • In-depth experience with parallel sysplex, coupling facility, I/O gens, HCM & HCD, z/OS, JES2, GRS, CA1, CA7, and CA11.
  • In-depth understanding of mainframe storage technology (EMC), including replication technologies.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of mainframe operating systems and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with developers, vendors, and other team members.
