Role Overview

The Project Manager will serve as the management lead for assigned projects, taking ownership of project oversight and team coordination as a vital member of the project leadership team. This role requires a fundamental competency in the Senior Project Manager category. Key responsibilities encompass project management from the initial proposal stage to client occupancy, overseeing construction documentation, administration, and nurturing client relationships. You will be tasked with preparing strategic plans to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex medium to large-scale projects.
  • Collaborate regularly with design and technical leaders to execute project goals, coordinate resources, and integrate inputs from inception to completion.
  • Actively participate as a leading member of the project team across all project scope aspects.
  • Contribute to proposal development and inform scope and fee as a key participant in project pursuits.
  • Create the Work Plan, including appropriate staffing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the Project Schedule aligned with the work plan.
  • Identify and engage necessary consultants.
  • Coordinate all project efforts—administrative, design, and technical—to ensure efficient and cost-effective project execution.
  • Manage client budgets, schedules, and programs; oversee project communications and documentation; handle office administrative tasks and project team assignments.
  • Collaborate with leadership on staffing and project planning, serving as the primary contact for clients and consultants.
  • Manage client expectations and consultant coordination to ensure project completion aligns with budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Proactively manage project dynamics, risks, and maintain alignment with project scope.
  • Develop additional service requests when project work exceeds contracted scope.
  • Monitor project financial performance and proactively develop plans to mitigate losses where applicable.
  • Work closely with Finance & Accounting to adhere to Vocon's project delivery standards and ensure timely billing.
  • Understand fundamental contract language and concepts.
  • Prepare strategic plans to drive project success.
  • Contribute to the development of project management standards and best practices.
  • Enhance Vocon's evolving project delivery framework with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Exemplify interdisciplinary collaboration and active engagement.

Required Capabilities

  • Demonstrated competency in fulfilling key responsibilities for the Senior Project Manager role.
  • Specialized expertise in management execution, comprehensive knowledge of the design process, and proficiency in all conventional aspects of interior design and/or architecture.
  • Ability to resolve complex technical/design challenges and provide guidance.
  • Thorough understanding of design and production procedures as well as quality assurance processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract administration procedures for professional services and consultants.
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, standards, construction methods, and project delivery approaches.
  • Proven experience and success in managing the aforementioned procedures and processes.
  • Successful track record in collaborating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Adept at supervising multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to motivate and oversee the work of others.
  • Competent in business writing and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Effective communication skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and staff.
  • A strong passion for mentoring and teaching.
  • Proficient in relevant project management software including BlueBeam Revu, Newforma, and Clearview.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and other project delivery tools, coupled with a commitment to ongoing learning.

Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of seven to fifteen years of experience in commercial architecture/design and management.
