As a Vocational Nurse at the University of Texas Medical Branch, you will play a vital role in providing direct nursing care to patients and performing nursing procedures within the scope of your education and demonstrated abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
• Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care given, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care.
• Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures, ensuring a smooth transition for patients.
• Use the nursing plan of care in daily assignments, reviewing and modifying it as needed under supervision.
• Demonstrate ability to observe and record patient signs, symptoms, and behaviors, presenting proposed revisions to interventions and desired outcomes.
• Deliver designated nursing interventions to assigned patients, consistent with the stated medical plan of care.
• Notify nursing and medical staff of changes in patient status, recognizing patient care priorities, multidisciplinary treatment plans, and potential patient care crises.
• Follow physician's orders in the delivery of nursing care, maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to infection control and isolation procedures.
• Safely administer medications and treatments, executing written physician's orders for assigned patients.
• Assemble equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures, performing or assisting others with procedures or treatments.
• Adhere to internal controls established for the department, performing related duties as required.
Requirements:
• Graduation from a Licensed Vocational Nurse Program.
• License/permit as a vocational nurse in the state of Texas.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
• Shifts are 12 or 8 hour shifts dependent on work location and nurse manager.
