Job Duties

As an Occupational/Physical Therapist with Certified Hand Therapist credential, you will provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) to enhance an individual's ability to perform tasks and participate fully in daily life situations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess, plan, and administer medically prescribed therapy as outlined by treatment plan and in accordance with practice guidelines.
  • Improve upper limb function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans to address the needs of patients with upper limb injuries or conditions.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an occupational physical therapist with 4,000 hours in direct practice in hand therapy.
  • Active Maryland OT or PT license.
  • American Heart Association's BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers CPR (Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
  • Successful completion of the CHT (Certified Hand Therapist) exam as administered by the HTCC.
  • Every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Tact and skill in patient management.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of medical office procedures.
  • Ability to effectively interact with doctors, patients, and co-workers.
  • Ability to triage patients, taking basic vitals (blood pressure, pulse, and respiration).
  • Motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Physical/Mental Requirements:

This position requires periods of extensive sitting and phone work. It also requires other repetitive motions (e.g., bending, stooping, twisting, walking, standing, reaching overhead, pushing or pulling). Manual dexterity is required, as is the ability to concentrate on detail amid other activity. Lifting a maximum of 20 pounds.
