The role of the Senior Environmental Systems Engineer is pivotal in the design and optimization of Babcock & Wilcox's environmental solutions. This position encompasses the engineering of both original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and retrofit projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize advanced engineering principles to conduct heat and material balance calculations, assess heat transfer mechanisms, and evaluate unit operations.
  • Develop comprehensive process designs for a diverse range of Babcock & Wilcox's environmental equipment offerings.
  • Determine specifications for procured equipment, analyze supplier quotations, and provide recommendations for purchases.
  • Create detailed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to support project documentation.
  • Assist in the formulation of control documentation, including control narratives and instrumentation specifications, while preparing technical proposals and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Review client specifications and collaborate with cross-functional teams to document any technical exceptions and clarifications.
  • Conduct thorough calculations to underpin performance guarantees, working closely with Babcock & Wilcox's subject matter experts to assess margins and risks.
  • Engage with various departments such as Proposal Management, Project Management, and Procurement to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Interact with clients, account representatives, and equipment suppliers to foster strong professional relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and cost-saving initiatives, contributing to the overall efficiency of operations.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with over 10 years of experience in environmental process engineering, particularly in emissions control technologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a strong ability to collaborate within a team environment.
  • This senior-level position offers the chance to gain exposure to a wide range of Babcock & Wilcox's technologies and provides opportunities to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in various emissions control systems.
