Kleinfelder's is seeking a Staff Geotechnical/Construction Engineer to join our team in either Charlotte, Raleigh or Greensboro. Our Staff Geotechnical/Construction Engineers perform routine field and laboratory tests and inspections for the purpose of verifying conformance to construction plans and specifications.

In this position, you will assist the Project Engineer/Project Manager and participate in the execution of field investigation and construction projects. A successful candidate must be able to follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, contractors, etc.

Additionally, the candidate must be capable of clear and concise verbal and written communications (i.e. preparing daily reports and data sheets), have the ability to operate with close to moderate supervision, and may be called upon to perform various tasks at the discretion of the supervisor.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine, well-defined, field and office tasks (technical and non-technical) and analysis under direct supervision
  • Conduct field exploration, sampling, inspection, analysis and technical support under supervision
  • Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, concrete, retaining structures and foundation installation
  • Assist the Project Engineer/Manager and prepare geotechnical and materials testing reports
Requirements:

2-4 years of industry experience in Construction Materials Engineering & Testing and Special Inspections, and/or Geotechnical Engineering, including applicable licenses and certifications.

Bachelors degree in civil engineering; preference will be given to those with a concentration in geotechnical or construction engineering

EIT is required or able to obtain within 6 months.

Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The ideal candidate will have a strong, technical background, the ability to provide technical support on projects with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
