POSITION: Technology Assistant

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology

POSITION SUMMARY: This full-time role is designed to deliver comprehensive technical assistance to educators and students within a diverse environment that includes Macintosh, Windows, and Chrome OS systems. The individual in this position will also collaborate with other members of the technology department on various support initiatives.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field OR
  • An associate degree or a diploma/certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field combined with two years of experience in IT/helpdesk services OR
  • A minimum of three years of experience in an IT service or similar role.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic understanding of computer systems and associated technologies.
  • Familiarity with Macintosh and Windows software and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of Chrome OS.
  • Ability to assist educators and administrative personnel in utilizing hardware and software effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with individuals of varying technical expertise.
  • Capability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Basic understanding of both wired and wireless networking.
  • Proficient in the operation of laser and inkjet printers.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt skills as necessary to meet evolving job demands.

  • Professional demeanor when interacting with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide troubleshooting support for end-users utilizing Macintosh, Windows, and Chrome OS devices.
  • Effectively communicate to maintain existing infrastructure, support ongoing projects, and enhance client service.
  • Manage support requests through a help ticketing system.
  • Assist in creating and delivering training materials for educators, support staff, and administrators.
  • Install hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct maintenance and repairs on Macintosh and Windows desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, and mobile devices along with their associated hardware.
  • Support the 1:1 Chromebook Program for Middle and High School as well as the elementary 1:1 iPad Carts.
  • Document and maintain records of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Keep accurate inventory of district technology assets.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work from ladders and man-lifts to access overhead equipment and cabling.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and respond to client needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
