Position Overview:
Under moderate supervision, the Neurodiagnostic Technician B is responsible for preparing patients and conducting a variety of neurodiagnostic tests, including Electroencephalograms (EEGs), Evoked Potentials, and Transcranial Doppler studies. This role involves gathering pertinent patient information that is essential for the accurate interpretation of test results and determining the appropriate procedures for testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting Standard EEGs: Perform various EEGs such as wake and sleep studies, nasopharyngeal, bedside, isolation, pediatric, neonatal, and evaluations for electrocerebral inactivity, adhering to departmental protocols.
- Data Compilation: Collect and compile data regarding the patient's neurological status and clinical history, which may be relevant for interpreting neurodiagnostic procedures.
- Neurovascular Assessments: Execute non-invasive neurovascular studies, including Transcranial Doppler examinations.
- Evoked Potentials Testing: Attach electrodes and record evoked potentials in response to visual, auditory, and somatosensory stimuli.
- Hearing Assessments: Conduct Otoacoustic Emissions (OAE) and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) screenings on infants to evaluate hearing capabilities.
- Patient Support During Seizures: Provide compassionate care and make detailed observations during seizures and other critical patient situations.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, candidates should possess a formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college) in a specialized field, preferably in Electroneurodiagnostic Technology or a related area. Additionally, certification in CPR from the American Heart Association and eligibility for certification by ABRET are required.
