Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join our dynamic Formation Flight Team. This role is ideal for a collaborative engineer who is passionate about shaping the future of distributed satellite technology. You will be instrumental in the meticulous process of launching and operating our constellation of small satellites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the operations authority during mission preparations, providing expert support for iuvo BioScience's systems.
  • Design and implement pre-launch verification and validation campaigns for our satellites.
  • Coordinate operational activities with both internal teams and external partners, including ground station operators and launch service providers.
  • Simulate tasking scenarios for our satellite swarm to optimize performance.
  • Develop comprehensive mission plans and operational protocols in collaboration with fellow team members.
  • Conduct trade studies on orbital positioning and maneuvers to enhance satellite coverage.
  • Execute targeted tasking utilizing multiple space-based sensors after launch.
QualificationsBasic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering testing, integration, or flight operations (including relevant internships and project experience).
  • Experience in real-time operations within a safety-critical environment (e.g., high-performance automotive or robotic systems).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts independently and thoroughly.
  • High self-motivation and accountability.
  • Proficient in project and time management, capable of juggling multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment under significant time constraints.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and software tools such as Python, C++, Java, and Matlab.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in an engineering or scientific field.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of spacecraft systems and operations, including communications, orbital mechanics, avionics, propulsion, thermal control, and life support systems.
  • Advanced understanding of orbital mechanics and spacecraft mission planning.
  • Experience in supplier-facing roles, managing design requirements, test acceptance, and verification processes.
  • Background in interdisciplinary teamwork to tackle complex challenges.
  • Experience in avionics, flight control software systems, communication systems, or orbit and attitude dynamics.
