Day-to-Day and Year 1:
As a Software Engineer, you'll spend 30% of your time in meetings and 70% on hands-on work, designing, coding, testing, and debugging. You'll develop software for the device stack and beyond, using languages like C, C++, Rust, Python, React, and JavaScript. You'll also partner with our hardware engineers, scientists, and product managers to ensure Callisto's software is robust and effective.

Responsibilities:
Developing software for the device stack and beyond
Authoring Python code to run on the instrument and control its functionality
Developing manufacturing test functionality
Documenting software design, implementation, and testing procedures
Partnering with hardware engineers, scientists, and product managers
Designing, developing, and maintaining features for customer-facing products and internal tools
Debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving complex software errors
Deploying software updates to fleets of instruments and monitoring them
Participating in code reviews and following company coding standards
Contributing to the overall success of the team by identifying opportunities for process improvement and innovation
Facilitating hardware bringup and failure analysis

Qualifications:
Hands-on design, development, and launch experience of electromechanical device software
Ability to build a highly technical product for a low-tech audience
Startup mindset, with the ability to connect dots quickly, iterate on the fly, and take calculated risks
Prior in-production collaboration with hardware engineers or direct experience alongside them
Comfortable with digging into hardware and reading schematics
