Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cardiac Monitor to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Cardiac Monitor, you will be responsible for monitoring patient physiologic status via electronic systems and notifying appropriate patient care team members in the event of a variance or audible alarm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor Patient Physiologic Status: Utilize electronic systems to monitor patient physiologic status, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, end-tidal carbon dioxide (CO2), and peripheral capillary oxygen saturation (SPO2).
  • Notify Patient Care Team Members: Immediately notify patient care team members of variances and audible alarms in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Document Patient Data: Document patient data in a timely manner, including data points such as cardiac rhythm, heart rate, SPO2, and CO2.
  • Maintain Equipment: Confirm proper functioning of equipment and recognize malfunctions, communicating them to the supervisor or appropriate staff immediately.
  • Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, using good interpersonal skills and a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement: Participate in performance improvement activities and initiatives, demonstrating initiative to diagnose and resolve problems.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
  • Experience: No experience required.
  • Licensure: ECG Certification required within 12 months of hire date by the American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine or National Telemetry Association.
Physical Demands
  • Sitting and Repetitive Tasks: Job requires sitting for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
  • Communication and Visual Skills: Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
