Job Summary:

The Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for leading the health, safety and environmental strategy, teams, and systems. This position will oversee the development and delivery of health, safety and environmental standards and processes to reduce or eliminate loss and accidents, audit and monitor compliance and adhere to overall company guidelines and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance to the senior leadership team to adopt and implement measures to reflect the priority and focus the company has on health and safety.
  • Work with federal, state, local and company safety / loss control employees to ensure compliance with regulatory laws.
  • Work closely with the Environment Superintendent to ensure permits received for future mine-plan changes, expansions, process changes, etc. are vetted and can be implemented once issued.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets for health, safety, and environmental departments consistent with established financial guidelines and business planning process.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of related work experience in health, safety and environmental.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Previous experience in reclamation.
  • Thorough understanding of MSHA and other safety-related regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, as they relate to mining operations.
