We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as our Director of Residential Life. This is a 12-month position that includes a competitive salary, benefits, and a meal plan when classes are in session.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Residential Life Programs
The Director of Residential Life will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that foster a sense of community, belonging, and educationally-purposeful engagement among students. This will include designing, promoting, and assessing programs and services that contribute to and support student learning and personal development.
Lead and Manage Residential Life StaffThe Director will provide direction, oversight, support, and professional development for professional residential life staff and student residential life staff. This will include selecting, training, and evaluating staff, as well as coordinating regular performance evaluations and feedback mechanisms.
Develop and Implement Residential Life Policies and ProceduresThe Director will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures that promote safety, responsibility, and respectful living conditions. This will include addressing issues of student conduct, working with the Dean of Students and designees, and identifying needs and coordinating efforts to promote a positive and inclusive living environment.
Collaborate with Campus PartnersThe Director will work collaboratively with campus partners, including administrators, faculty, staff, and students, to promote a sense of community and belonging among students. This will include advocating for adequate resources and innovative building and common-space renovations and design, as well as maintaining a positive working relationship with Facilities Services and Public Safety.
Manage Residential Life OperationsThe Director will be responsible for managing residential life operations, including overseeing the room selection process, supervising the room change process, and keeping accurate records, data, and statistics on the Adirondack software system.
Participate in Campus-Wide InitiativesThe Director will participate in campus-wide initiatives, including the student life on-call after-hours rotation, and will handle crises and hospitalization of students, including contact with parents, and medical and public safety personnel.
Requirements- Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or Related Field
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in higher education administration or a related field.
3-5 Years of Progressive Leadership Experience in Residential LifeThe candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in residential life, with a working knowledge of legislation and regulations that affect residential life programs.
Collaborative and Inclusive Management StyleThe Director will have a collaborative, inclusive, and transparent management style, with experience working with diverse individuals and groups, including administrators, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Experience with Residential Life SoftwareThe candidate will have experience with residential life software, such as Adirondack Solutions or an equivalent system.
Willingness to Work Nights and WeekendsThe Director will be willing to work nights and weekends as program and college demands dictate.
