About the Role

Xcel Energy is seeking a highly skilled Data Science Intern to join our team. As a Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on complex, multi-variable problems using cutting-edge analytics and develop solutions leveraging various modeling techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct data exploration and analysis to identify trends and tendencies
  • Develop and implement scalable solutions in data-driven environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program for Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar
  • SQL/Python proficiency
  • Data exploration skills: ability to look through data, assess data quality, and draw conclusions from the data
  • Experience assessing data quality and applying appropriate statistical techniques to data exploration
  • Experience with feature engineering and exposure to foundational statistics concepts and algorithms
  • Passion for learning and analyzing data
  • Ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate, and analyze complex datasets
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with large data sets, especially leveraging Databricks and Spark
  • Fluency with Python and data visualization tools/languages
  • Machine learning exposure and AWS experience
