Veterinary Technician

Overview

Waukee Clive Veterinary Clinic is seeking a full-time Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a respected and utilized member of our clinic, you will have the opportunity to work with a progressive team and provide exceptional patient care.

Hospital Location and Hours

Our clinic is located at 15151 Hickman Rd., Clive, Iowa 50325. We operate Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm and are closed on weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly rate of $22-26, with increases based on experience. Our benefits package includes 80 hours of PTO, customized learning and development opportunities, and 24 additional hours of CE PTO. Responsibilities

As a Credentialed Veterinary Technician, your responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and upholding our clinic's core values and mission statement
• Providing guidance to support staff and mentoring team members for career advancement
• Providing patient care under the supervision of a DVM and maintaining excellent client communication
• Recording medical, client, and case-related information accurately and reviewing medical records with clients
• Answering client inquiries and providing feedback and changes to our training program

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Proficiency in a variety of skills, including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills
• Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations and handle a fast-paced environment
• Ability to give SQ, IM, and IV injections and properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover patients from anesthesia
• Knowledge of prescription drugs, anesthesia, and recovery states, as well as the ability to explain them to clients
• High school diploma or equivalent, state department of regulation licensing, and 1+ years of veterinary industry experience

Physical Requirements

You will need to be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker. You will also need to be able to work in noisy conditions and be exposed to a variety of pets, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel is required for vendor visits and associate education.
