Procurement Specialist - Aerospace

Position Overview

The role is pivotal in managing local commercial activities and overseeing non-strategic sourcing within the designated geographical region.

The Senior Buyer typically manages a larger site or a cluster of smaller sites.

Key responsibilities include overseeing in-contract modifications, transfers, or new product sourcing, ensuring competitive pricing aligned with aerospace commodity strategies.

Additionally, the role involves managing supplier deliveries for sourced parts until First Article Inspection (FAI) is successfully completed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement activities and site evaluations for the assigned geographical area.
  • Act as the liaison between program and commodity management for new sourcing and change initiatives, adhering to group commodity strategies.
  • Assist commodity managers in supplier selection processes using E-Sourcing tools.
  • Support parts and supplier transfers, including major and minor industrialization efforts until FAI is achieved.
  • Drive the implementation of global and regional agreements within the designated area.
  • Manage the transition of parts from Purchase Order to Schedule, including negotiations for consignment and related agreements.
  • Ensure all Purchase Order demands placed on suppliers meet key objectives regarding cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Maintain site procurement change control, export control, and compliance with ITAR regulations.
  • Ensure the integrity and maintenance of the site Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Update and maintain item and contract data accurately.
  • Facilitate the flow of customer materials, pricing, and forecasts to suppliers.
  • Identify and develop cost reduction opportunities and supplier development plans in line with business objectives.
  • Assess supplier risk using rate readiness templates and financial insights.
  • Manage raw material inventory levels for Purchase Order parts to align with program targets.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies related to pricing.
  • Serve as an escalation point for cost and contractual issues with suppliers, collaborating with commodity management for further escalation when necessary.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSc degree or equivalent in Business, Engineering, or Science, or 3+ years of buyer experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in Procurement, Commercial, or Supply Chain Management roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GKN.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems.
  • Experience in Transfer of Work or transitions between Buy to Buy.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships within a supplier network and understand supplier processes.
  • Proven leadership skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • CPIM or APEX certification.
  • Experience in negotiation and contract management.
