Position Summary
The Fabrication Machine Technician will undertake various responsibilities including setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on designated machinery.
This role also entails inspecting components to ensure they meet specifications and making necessary adjustments or tool changes to uphold quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate production machinery in accordance with established guidelines.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure precise task completion.
- Conduct pre-operation checks to guarantee proper equipment functionality.
- Execute tasks accurately based on provided blueprints.
- Maintain a comprehensive log of daily activities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Familiarity with basic machine safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques.
- Ability to read blueprints and perform basic mathematical calculations (geometry, decimals, metric conversions).
- Proficient in using measuring tools such as tape measures and squares.
- Skilled in the safe operation of hand tools including hammers and wrenches.
- Vigilantly monitor machinery during operation, remaining in the immediate area to respond to any issues.
- Ability to interpret cut lists and understand material types.
- Competent in operating cranes and forklifts safely.
- Capable of performing layout work as needed.
- Review operator manuals for safe operation and preventive maintenance procedures.
- Communicate effectively with fellow operators and team members to ensure safety on the production floor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Relevant coursework from trade school or college is advantageous.
- Experience in blueprint reading is desirable.
- 0-2 years of experience in heavy equipment manufacturing is preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including file management, are beneficial.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions and learn machine operation; training will be provided.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Good troubleshooting abilities and a commitment to maintaining quality standards.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing setting, which may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, tools, and various environmental conditions.
Employees may encounter varying levels of dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, as well as high noise levels that may require hearing protection.
