Job Overview

The Procurement Specialist - Packaging Materials is responsible for overseeing the processing, tracking, and administrative tasks related to inbound and outbound packaging materials in Flexible Films, Rigid Containers, Labels, Corrugated, and other verticals. Working under general supervision from the Buyer, this role requires a fact-based decision-making process and involves managing both internal and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers based on supply strategy from the Buyer.
  • Utilize fact-based decision-making skills for order cycle analysis and method of delivery based on tiered pricing and volumes.
  • Primary responsibility is replenishment of materials or finished goods.
  • Manage the Po to Payable process for each Purchase Order for on-time delivery and risk to the business unit.
  • Assist buyers in the tracking and tracing of orders.
  • Maintain frequent communications with suppliers/providers to ensure efficiencies in information gathering.
  • Help manage Vendor Price Maintenance (VPM) at direction of Buyer.
  • Assist in developing reports and compiling market information.
  • Assist in processing reports, documents, and purchases in a timely manner.
  • Assist in preparing near-term forecast based on supplier lead times.
  • Assist Buyer in preparing long-term forecast with forecasting team as needed.
  • Assist in assigned special projects.
  • Assist Buyer in RFP's, RFI's, and Expressive Bid Events.
  • Work closely with inventory coordinator to manage suppliers and materials based on fluctuating market lead times or changes in production schedule.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate degree or equivalent industry experience or related discipline is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and other business software.
  • Experience with Incoterms for method of delivery preferred.
  • Experience with VMI, Consignment, and other inventory programs preferred.
  • Prior experience with packaging form, fit, and function preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public.
  • Demonstrated proficiency to manage multiple tasks, to set priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use a computer, and proficiency of the use of MS Office and other business software.
  • Self-managing; works well under little supervision.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and sense of urgency when problems occur.
  • Good interpersonal skills and good communicator.
  • Proactive approach to situations.
  • Strong organization skills, detail oriented, and follows up on commitments.
  • Support the overall Enterprise Goals and Objectives.
  • Conducts in a professional manner.

Salary Information
