Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Health Services Specialist I to join our team at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support services in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care services, including sexual and reproductive health, abortion, prenatal, and family medicine, as appropriate to the scope of services and health centers.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providing accurate information regarding Planned Parenthood services, including questions pertaining to contraception, options, and funding sources.
  • Contribute to achieving health center productivity goals, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Screen financial, medical, and social history, documenting pertinent information accurately.
  • Demonstrate Planned Parenthood Mar Monte's customer service standards, soliciting donations from patients as needed.
  • Follow all patient care standards, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for patients and staff.
  • Perform front office check-in and check-out duties, communicating professionally and accurately about services, payment, and appointment scheduling.
  • Enter accurate patient information into the Electronic Practice Management System (EPM), making health center appointments, and providing information and referrals as needed.
  • Contact insurance companies to obtain benefit information and authorization for services, ensuring accuracy of charges and posting charges to EPM for all pay types.
  • Run end-of-day reports as directed by the Center Manager, handling patient check-out, calculating and collecting fees, and soliciting contributions.
  • Notify supervisor of discrepancies or unusual occurrences in daily billing or computer software/hardware.
  • Responsible for scanning all documents in patients' charts at date of service, completing all billing tasks and corrections within 72 hours of receipt, and following all Planned Parenthood Mar Monte financial policies and procedures.
  • Prepare charts for next day appointments, completing confirmation calls and chart prep as needed.
Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of an initial health screening within 10 days of first date of employment.
  • Completes all HSS I training requirements within the first year of employment.
  • No active performance issues at the time of promotion to HSS II.
  • Able to work nights and weekends as required.
  • Able to work at a variety of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte locations.
