Position Summary:
Under limited supervision, the Quality Inspector is tasked with examining a broad range of components, assemblies, tooling fixtures, and materials to ensure adherence to customer specifications, company standards, and quality benchmarks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of machined parts, components, assemblies, and materials to ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards (Military Standards, ASTM, AWS, ANSI, and ASME Code).
  • Generate various electronic and hard copy inspection reports, notifying relevant parties, including project engineers.
  • Set up and operate measuring and testing equipment, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Utilize Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM) for part acceptance, including equipment setup, inspection techniques, and final dimensional inspections during the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain and update computer databases as necessary.
  • Provide quality oversight during testing to verify compliance with established requirements and standards.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies and customers during audits and reviews of inspection and calibration activities.
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control or other quality assurance procedures.
  • Coordinate the procurement of standard materials, services, and parts for inspections.
  • Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and obligations while conducting business on behalf of the company.
  • Work safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.


Qualifications:
Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections, or certification by a professional organization such as ASQ or AWS, along with three or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or metrology inspection and calibration. Additional experience may substitute for formal education and training.


Essential Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, performing complex mathematical computations.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, including management.
  • Capability to interpret complex information and address a variety of intricate issues.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD & T).
  • Proven experience operating CMMs; CMM programming experience is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in utilizing CMM software programs (PC-DMIS or other metrology software).
  • Willingness to work alternate shifts as required.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment, with flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100/9102, and Department of Defense (DOD) quality assurance program requirements in a manufacturing context is highly desirable.
  • Possession or ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is highly desirable.


Salary:
Compensation ranges from $55,110 to $81,930, with travel requirements and relocation assistance provided. U.S. Citizenship is required for certain positions, and a desired clearance level is Secret.
