Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at University Of Iowa Commun. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy operations and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compounds sterile products in accordance with principles of aseptic technique and prescriber orders.
  • Maintains inventory and performs quality assurance activities.
  • Ensures cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy and MIC.
  • Enters patient medication orders into the home infusion order entry system.
  • Maintains keys and exercises access to drug storage areas.
  • Generates and maintains records related to medication distribution and dispensing.
  • Utilizes various equipment, including Baxa pump, label printers, and computer keyboards/terminals.
  • Participates in the orientation of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.
  • Communicates with other healthcare personnel.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a general mathematics course.
  • Current Iowa Pharmacy Technician Certification or must become certified within one year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Home Infusion pharmacy experience and clinical pharmacy experience are desirable.
  • Job-related experience with sterile compounding is highly desirable.
Work Environment
