Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain assigned areas, including hallways, restrooms, offices, classrooms, and multi-purpose rooms.
  • Empty trash and recyclables from all trash receptacles.
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), window sills, and air vents.
  • Clean and sterilize restroom facilities, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
  • Respond to and clean up bodily messes, including vomit, feces, urine, and blood.
  • Remove waste from the cafeteria and assist with cleaning tables and floors.
  • Assist the Head Custodian with cleaning projects and tasks, including preventative maintenance and monitoring systems.
  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the job.
  • Review current developments, literature, and janitorial sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA and maximum safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as delegated by the Supervisor.

Accountability Procedures

The Director of Projects & Facilities will assess the effectiveness of the Custodian's performance annually, in coordination with school administration, maintenance coordinator, and Head Custodian.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with continuing education in construction or facilities-related fields.
  • Minimum 1 year of janitorial trade experience.
  • Special qualifications: must possess the above knowledge, skills, and abilities.
