Financial Controller Job Description

At International Leadership of Texas, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the fiscal and audit operations of the department, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures in accordance with Board policies, charter procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the fiscal operations of the charter, including audit preparations and working alongside the public accounting firm on completion of the annual audit and Form 990.
  • Oversight of the creation and management of charter budget, including management of day-to-day cash and treasury, debt service, and bond issuances and payments.
  • Creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the Board, bondholders, rating agencies, and banks.
  • Communicate with co-workers, management, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Requirements:
  • Education/Certification: High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred, CPA License Required.
  • Special Knowledge/Skills: Microsoft Excel & Word Skills Required, U.S. GAAP, Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, Travel Logistics Coordination, Project Management, Personal Effectiveness/Credibility.
  • Experience: Demonstrated excellence in management of accounting functions for a complex organization, preferably a large charter system/district or non-profit.
