Position Summary:We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented PACU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for monitoring patient progress and ensuring a smooth transition from anesthesia to full consciousness.
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit is responsible for the recovery of patients post-surgery, including those who have undergone general, regional, or local anesthesia. As a PACU RN, you will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive care through vigilant monitoring, assessment, and intervention.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to surgical procedures.
- Verify that all necessary consents are obtained and documented.
- Regularly monitor vital signs and other post-operative indicators.
- Initiate intravenous lines and provide patients with information about their recovery process.
- Review patient medical histories and identify significant details.
- Perform essential post-operative tasks, including dressing changes and medication administration.
- Address patient inquiries and ensure comfort throughout their recovery.
- Monitor for any changes in patient conditions and communicate findings to the medical team.
- Act promptly in emergency situations that may arise post-surgery.
- Educate patients and their families on home recovery protocols and activity restrictions.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.

- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or endorsement acceptable.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Graduates from an accredited School of Nursing are required for new graduates; preferred for experienced RNs.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
- Specialized nursing skills and knowledge relevant to the PACU setting.
- Valid RN License required; must hold a current state nursing license or a valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.
- Medium Work - Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs constantly.
