Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to support our Medical Surgical Oncology department. This specialized unit is designed to provide comprehensive care for adult patients with diverse medical conditions and surgical oncology requirements.
Employment Details:
This role is a .6 FTE, requiring 48 hours per two-week pay period, with 12-hour shifts scheduled every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) during the night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
Night shift differential of $3.00 per hour is available.

Key Responsibilities:
The Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in assisting the professional nursing staff in delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Providing essential patient care, including personal grooming, bathing, toileting, and feeding.
- Addressing skin care needs, such as clean and sterile dressing changes and applying ointments/creams.
- Facilitating oral hygiene and specimen collection/testing.
- Assisting with patient positioning and ambulation, changing linens, and promptly responding to call lights.
The Nursing Assistant also supports the nursing team in monitoring patient conditions by:
- Accurately measuring and documenting vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation.
- Assisting with the use of monitoring equipment and promptly reporting any unusual findings to the registered nurse.
Additional duties include:
- Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, ensuring a smooth transition for patients and their families.
- Transporting patients, equipment, and supplies, ensuring timely arrivals for appointments.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and equipment, including ordering and stocking supplies.
Qualifications:
License/Certification/Registration:
- Completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another approved Nursing Assistant program.
- Alternatively, six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term care, home care, or acute care setting is acceptable.
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with completion of at least one semester of clinical rotation.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire is required, but does not need to be maintained throughout employment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification is mandatory, with OnTrack participants required to obtain certification upon completion of the program.
