We seek a seasoned Data Center Facility Operations Site Manager to oversee a significant critical data center. The Site Manager will be accountable for the overall quality and service of the facility's operation and maintenance, adhering to the company's established policies and procedures. This data center operates continuously throughout the year. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Chief Engineer to maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders. They will supervise the in-house facilities team to ensure that the site consistently meets the high and evolving standards expected by its internal clients. Furthermore, the candidate will provide ongoing leadership and support through effective planning, communication, and management of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional data center facility services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with company procedures and standards, assisting the Facilities Manager and technicians as needed.
  • Identify vulnerabilities while overseeing the on-site team of third-party critical facilities.
  • Communicate operational status updates to senior management and on-site clients.
  • Facilitate site acceptance and commissioning processes to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Act as a liaison between contracted vendors and on-site clients, coordinating efforts effectively.
  • Oversee the development and approval of procedures and methods for data center operations.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for candidates applying to this critical facility.
  • Audit installed data center components to verify job completion and design documentation.
  • Provide strategic leadership based on best practices for operational performance and reliability across various critical systems.
  • Supervise on-site management, ensuring all work aligns with established practices and procedures.
  • Manage customer relationships and serve as the escalation point for site-related issues.
  • Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on facility operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to coordinate projects and optimize safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Review operational procedures for all work on critical data center equipment.
  • Maintain a constant state of readiness to support the mission of achieving 99.999% uptime.

Qualifications:

  • 7-15+ years of experience in data center facility operations and maintenance.
  • 5 years of leadership experience in data center operations.
  • Experience with budget and profit/loss responsibilities.
  • Client-facing experience, particularly with hyperscale or colocation customers.
  • Strong understanding of critical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience supervising technical staff in data center operations.
  • Prior experience as a Data Center Facility Manager is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills for leading meetings.
  • Superior analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized with proven project management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage conflicts effectively.
