MRI Technologist

Welcome to United Hospital Center, where we're committed to delivering exceptional patient care. As an MRI Technologist, you'll play a vital role in our diagnostic imaging team, working closely with physicians to provide accurate and timely diagnoses.
The MRI Technologist performs complex MRI procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing injuries and diseases. To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong understanding of MRI procedures and safety protocols, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares and explains exams to patients
- Performs all exams that pertain to specialty areas
- Maintains current knowledge of procedures in specialty areas
- Maintains proper magnetic field safety requirements
- Assists physician during specialty exam
- Processes exams and makes them available on PACS
- Demonstrates appropriate patient/family/self-safety practices
- Delegates and evaluates the delivery of care given by peers and other members of the healthcare team
- Participates in self-evaluation and develops a plan for professional development
- Participates in the education/oversight of orientees, ancillary staff, and students
- Active on selected committees for the purpose of exchanging information and participating in problem-solving methods
- Arranges own knowledge base and development by attending formal and/or informal educational activities
- Assists in identifying problems for investigation, collecting data for research projects, and applying current concepts to patient care
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT in MRI within 1 year of hire
- West Virginia State Licensure as MRI Technologist or MRI Apprentice, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- ARRT Certification in Radiography
Work Environment:
- Works in a strong magnetic field
- May be exposed to virus, disease, and infection from patients and specimens in working environment
Physical Requirements:
- Extended periods of standing and walking
- Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs of weight
- Carry items of up to 20 lbs
