Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at Educational Services. As a key member of our therapy team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities in various settings.

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in implementing and documenting treatment programs for students and children, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP). This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and educational staff.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in implementing therapy programs, including exercises, activities of daily living skills, and ambulatory techniques.
  2. Construct, adapt, and monitor adaptive equipment, consulting with teachers and parents on its use.
  3. Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and other required activities.
  4. Prepare projects and materials for conducting individual and group motor skills programs.
  5. Follow established procedures from referral to discharge, with appropriate communication to supervisors.
  6. Monitor instructional assistants in daily motor skills programs.
  7. Consult with classroom staff/education team members and parents regarding implementing motor skills programs.
  8. Assist the Physical and/or Occupational Therapist in assessing students and developing IFSP/IEP goals.
  9. Participate as a member of the education team, attending parent conferences as needed.
Requirements:
  1. Associate's degree in occupational therapy assistant.
  2. Have or be eligible to hold a certified occupational therapy assistant license in the state of Washington.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant experience in an educational setting.
  2. Early childhood and/or school-age experience.
Working Conditions:

This role requires working in various settings, including family homes, preschools, and K-12 classrooms. The ability to move and position children and/or students according to established procedures is essential. Regular attendance during assigned work schedules is required, with daily travel to provide services.
