Job Responsibilities

As a Special Education Teacher at Uncommon Schools, your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement accommodations for students with special needs. This will involve modifying, differentiating, and teaching an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity.

You will work closely with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that offer appropriate accommodations and modifications. Your goal is to create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners.

  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with special needs.
  • Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to identify and address student needs.
  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social-emotional growth and academic achievement.
Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you should have a demonstrated commitment to supporting students' social-emotional and academic development. A prior experience in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities, particularly in Special Education or related fields, is highly desirable.

You must also be enthusiastic about collaborating with internal and external partners in the best interest of students. A self-directed learner who solicits and implements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives is essential.
