Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

As a vital member of a project team, the Cabling Installation Specialist is tasked with improving overall job site efficiency while ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.

This role encompasses various facets of the cable installation process, including Outside Plant (OSP), Inside Plant (ISP), rack assembly, patching, pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room setup, cable terminations, labeling, and grounding.

The Specialist aims to execute tasks with exceptional quality and efficiency, upholding professionalism to achieve optimal job performance.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary Duties:
Safety is our foremost priority. Adhere to safe work practices and comply with company and client site policies.
Promote the company’s Core Values to nurture and maintain a family-centric culture.
Install structured cabling systems, covering all aspects of the installation process: OSP, ISP, Rack, Stack, Patch.
Interpret and analyze floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets accurately.
Set up a variety of copper and fiber testers properly.
Conduct system testing and troubleshooting as necessary.
Terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot optical fiber and copper installations.
Assist in mentoring Installers to ensure they can fulfill all Technician responsibilities.
Proactively manage job site organization and basic housekeeping tasks.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Ensure compliance with customer security requirements.
Excel in technical tasks such as testing and troubleshooting.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Structured Cabling within a commercial construction setting.
Preferred 2-3 years of experience in Fiber optics.
Preferred experience in Data Center installations.

Essential Skills:
(1) Low Voltage - 1 to 3 years of experience in pulling and installing low voltage cables, including Cat 5, Cat 6, and conduit.
(2) Experience in Fiber optics.
(3) Data Center experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic aligned with Core Values.
A solid team player demonstrating accountability, collaboration, integrity, and respect.
Proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, along with effective communication skills.
Capability to understand and clearly explain all aspects of structured cabling systems, including pathways, spaces, horizontal cabling, backbone copper, backbone fiber optic, cross- and inter-connections, and testing. This includes familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices, along with the ability to differentiate between them and make informed recommendations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook.
Ability to select the appropriate tools and methods for various tasks.
Demonstrated aptitude for learning from senior team members.
Strong listening skills and ability to follow instructions.
Exhibit teamwork and adaptability in diverse work environments.
Maintain a positive attitude and high attention to detail.
Ability to meet deadlines and distinguish color codes, as well as read a tape measure.
Must adhere to driving standards policy.
